I am so excited to be stocking Scheepjes yarn – I just love it!
Scheepjes have recently released their brand new yarn called chunky monkey so I thought I’d do a quick review.

As soon as I saw it I thought I’ve got to have it! As much as I love Stylecraft I do find that the colours available in their special chunky and aran range don’t quite match up to the double knitting range. This Chunky Monkey is the perfect range to fill in the gap, it has a massive 93 shades!!

Scheepjes do describe this yarn as aran weight, however, it is much thicker and is easily a chunky weight yarn. I recommend using a 6mm hook not a 5mm hook that the manufacturer recommends. I have done a bit of research on this and the general consensus is that it’s a chunky yarn. The website yarn sub does give chunky yarns as a substitution here’s the link if you want to take a look

It is a 100% premium acrylic and is anti-pilling so no more of those annoying bobbles!!

I'm trying it out by making a corner to corner cushion in colours inspired by Cath Kidston. I'm really enjoying working with this yarn, its so smooth and makes a lovely thick fabric which I think will be perfect for a cushion to hold its shape. I also think it will make beautful hats, scarves and blankets, etc the options are endless!!
If you would like to give it a try its available to buy for £2.45 per 100g ball. Here:

I will write up the pattern for this cushion and publish it in my next blog post.
