Sundae Blanket

Posted by Claire Turner on

I made this lovely blanket a little while ago - it is available to download from my website but I thought I would share it on my blog too! Here is the link if you would like to download the PDF version.

I used my all-time favourite yarn Stylecraft special dk, it is reasonably priced, hard wearing yet soft and washes really well. There is also massive 93 shades in the range to choose from!! I  decided on these lovely soft muted tones which remind me of ice cream sundaes. I also wanted to incorporate some of the newest shades powder pink, toy and spearmint. The yarn pack is available to purchase here.

I chose cluster v stitch as it is as a variation of one of my favourite stitches the v stitch. The cluster v stitch gives a much thicker texture but is still lacy and has a really nice drape to it.

Here’s how to make a cluster V stitch:
  1. Yarn over hook, insert hook through stitch and pull through 2 loops (2 loops remaining on the hook)
  2. Yarn over hook and insert through the same stitch. Pull through 2 loops (3 loops remaining on the hook)
  3. Yarn over hook and insert through the same stitch. Pull through 2 loops (4 loops remaining on the hook)
  4. Yarn over hook and pull through all 4 loops on the hook ( first half of cluster made)
  5. Chain 2
  6. To make the second cluster repeat steps 1 to 4 ( use the same stitch as the first cluster)
Here’s the pattern:

You will need 16 x 100g balls of Stylecraft Special dk in the following shades:
